本州及び九州に分布し、中国からも知られる。おそらく温帯域に広く分布するものと思われる。アズマネザサなどのタケ類やススキにも生息し、食性は今のところ不明。本属の種はどれも小腮刺針が極めて短い。

This species is distributed in Honshu and Kyushu, and is also known from China. It is probably widely distributed in temperate zones. It inhabits bamboos or grasses such as Pleioblustus chino and Miscanthus sinensis, and its feeding habit is currently unknown. All species of this genus have extremely short maxillary stylets.
